About Gitte Lorentzen

As an architect turned ceramic artist, Gitte Lorentzen is passionate about preserving the natural beauty of clay in her handcrafted pieces. She work with coarse stoneware, using an intuitive approach that creates unique textures through cuts and scrapes. Gitte revels in the contrast between the imperfect, tactile nature of ceramics, and her design language features sculptural forms, rough surfaces, dynamic textures, and striking color contrasts. She is constantly experimenting with innovative techniques, often incorporating locally sourced Danish earthenware for added character. Inspired by nature and Japanese aesthetics, her ceramics convey the idea that life is fleeting and imperfect. Each piece is a testament to this philosophy, carefully crafted from high-temperature stoneware, ensuring that every creation is a one-of-a-kind work of art.
