Stoneware Cup – Earth Texture
A one-of-a-kind stoneware cup by Bertel Bjerre, featuring a gently rounded form and an irregular, tactile surface. Layers of chalky white, charcoal and earthy brown create a naturally varied finish, complemented by subtle carved markings.
The contrast between its chunky silhouette and expressive surface reflects the artist's exploration of clay and firing.

About Bertel Bjerre
Bertel Bjerre is a Danish ceramic artist whose work explores the relationship between material, form and the natural world. With a background in art and design, his practice combines traditional ceramic techniques with an experimental approach to stoneware. Inspired by the coastal landscape surrounding his studio in Northern Zealand, Bjerre works with coarse clay, organic forms and a restrained palette of earthy tones. By combining different clays and construction techniques, he allows natural variations and unexpected patterns to emerge through the making and firing process. His sculptural tableware vessels celebrate the raw qualities of stoneware, where texture, colour and subtle irregularities give each piece its own distinct character. Bjerre graduated from the Danish School of Arts and Crafts in 1982 and is a member of Danish Crafts & Design Association (DKoD).
