Sferico Glass by Joe Colombo, 1968
Joe Colombo was a proponent of democratic and utilitarian design principles. Throughout his lifetime, he crafted a diverse array of drinking glasses, a choice that appears fitting considering his reputed affection for drinking and smoking. Regrettably, this lifestyle likely contributed to his premature passing, but we'd like to believe he would find solace in knowing that his creations endure.
In 1968, he conceived a series of six glasses, all rooted in geometric shapes. Aligned with his democratic and functional design ethos, each glass was intended for a broad spectrum of purposes—ranging from water, long drinks, whisky, wine, beer, juice, and champagne, to even serving ice cream and more.
