Sculptural Wall Plate – Charcoal
A sculptural ceramic wall piece by Bertel Bjerre, characterised by its circular form and deeply carved, linear surface. Finished in dark charcoal with subtle earthy undertones, the irregular grooves create a rhythmic texture across the entire piece.
The interplay of light and shadow highlights the tactile surface and natural variations of the stoneware.

About Bertel Bjerre
Bertel Bjerre is a Danish ceramic artist whose work explores the relationship between material, form and the natural world. With a background in art and design, his practice combines traditional ceramic techniques with an experimental approach to stoneware. Inspired by the coastal landscape surrounding his studio in Northern Zealand, Bjerre works with coarse clay, organic forms and a restrained palette of earthy tones. By combining different clays and construction techniques, he allows natural variations and unexpected patterns to emerge through the making and firing process. His sculptural tableware vessels celebrate the raw qualities of stoneware, where texture, colour and subtle irregularities give each piece its own distinct character. Bjerre graduated from the Danish School of Arts and Crafts in 1982 and is a member of Danish Crafts & Design Association (DKoD).
