The iconic 121 Scarpa dining chair offers a simple yet versatile design that complements both traditional and modern interiors.
This design features a sturdy wooden frame that provides a striking contrast to the seat and back, which are crafted from anatomically shaped plywood and upholstered in fine European leather. These components are securely attached with bolts to crosspieces along the center, ensuring excellent comfort. Inspired by a sketch by Tobia's father, the renowned Venetian architect and designer Carlo Scarpa, the 121 chair was brought to life with a unique touch by Afra and Tobia Scarpa in 1965.
The creation of the 121 Scarpa dining chair coincided with the design of the classic 925 Scarpa lounge chair in 1966. Both chairs exemplify the distinctive work of Afra and Tobia Scarpa, featuring the same double trestle structure with characteristic rounded joints. Today, both designs are proudly part of the Karakter collection.
