Libreria Pensile designed by Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni, 1957
Originally conceived in 1957, refined through the years, and finally brought to life by Bernini in 1966, this design by Castiglioni remains a testament to timeless ingenuity. Castiglioni's vision was to distill the essence of a bookcase to its bare essentials, leading to the ingenious decision to suspend the shelves from knots secured on two cords, anchored at a single point on the wall.
Even half a century after its introduction, this creation continues to exude relevance, elegance, and the unmistakable essence of Castiglioni's design philosophy.
