Matcha Bowl - Local Clay
Each matcha bowl is crafted from local clay, formed by hand using the pinch technique, with distinct grooves shaped by a wooden spatula. Before drying, the piece is treated with a unique slip—a clay mixture blended with locally sourced earth. After an initial firing, a handmade, matte semi-transparent glaze is applied, followed by a final firing at 1230°C. This process creates a stone-like, dynamic surface that captures the essence of handmade craftsmanship, offering a texture and depth unattainable with factory-made slips and glazes.

As an architect turned ceramic artist, Gitte Lorentzen is passionate about preserving the natural beauty of clay in her handcrafted pieces.
