Nesso Table Lamp
Italian designer Giancarlo Mattioli was driven by the excitement for space-age shapes and materials in 1964 when he began experimenting with newly-available thermoplastic resins. This led to the creation of the Nesso Table Lamp, an object now featured in MoMA’s collection. Resembling an otherworldly mushroom, the Nesso Lamp provides diffused incandescent light and has become an iconic piece, having graced numerous landmarks. It is considered a valuable work of art, with permanent spots in the collections of prestigious institutions such as The Metropolitan Museum of Art and The Museum of Modern Art.
