Berlin Chair designed by Gerrit Rietveld, 1923

In 1923 Gerrit Rietveld designed his iconic Berlin chair for the ‘Juryfreie Kunstschau’ in Berlin. Alongside the Red-Blue chair, it remains one of his most renowned creations. Crafted from eight separate oak planks, the avant-garde design reflects Rietveld's De Stijl art movement principles. The chair's solid oak panels are lacquered in white, black, and grey, retaining the wood's characteristic and atmospheric look. Its flexible armrest can be positioned on either side. Part of the Rietveld Originals collection, Spectrum exclusively manages the Berlin chair globally.
